On Friday, President Donald Trump formally withdrew his endorsement of Georgia Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Trump said he made the decision after weeks of growing frustration. He pointed to what he called “record accomplishments” since returning to the White House and said Greene responded to those developments with “complaining” rather than delivering results for her district.
“I am withdrawing the support and endorsement of 'Congresswoman' Marjorie Taylor Greene of the Great State of Georgia. Over the past few weeks, while I have achieved record-breaking accomplishments for our country, including a complete and total victory over the shutdown, closed borders, low taxes, no men in women's sports or transgender people for anyone, ending DEI, ending Biden's record inflation, the largest regulatory cut in history, ending EIGHT WARS, rebuilding our military, RESPECT by every country in the world (as opposed to being the laughing stock we were just 12 months ago!), having trillions of dollars (a record!)” – Trump wrote.
The president said the rift began when he shared polling data indicating Greene would be a weak contender for statewide senator or governor. Trump said data showed her share had stagnated at about 12% and warned she had no chance without his support – support he said she was “not going to get.”
“She has told many people that she is upset that I no longer answer her phone calls, but with 219 congressmen/women, 53 US senators, 24 cabinet members, almost 200 countries, and a normal life that I can lead, I can’t answer the rants of a madman every day,” Trump continued. “I understand that wonderful, conservative people are thinking about making Marjorie a primary in her Georgia district, that they, too, are sick of her and her antics, and if the right person runs, they will have my full and unwavering support. She has gone to the far left, even on The View with their low-IQ Republican hate anchors. Thank you for your attention to this issue. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Just days ago, Trump publicly criticized Greene after she attacked the administration over domestic policy and his recent foreign policy moves. When CNN's Kaitlan Collins pressed him about Greene's social media tirade, Trump dismissed her remarks and criticized Greene. “I don’t know what happened to Marjorie,” Trump said. “She's a good woman, but I don't know what happened. I think she's lost her way, but I have to look at the presidency as a worldwide situation, not a local one. We could have a world that's burning and wars very easily coming to our shores if you had a bad president.”
Green previously criticized the Syrian President Ahmed al-SharaaWhite House visit to mark the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps, posting her criticism Monday on X. She called on the administration to focus on domestic issues, arguing that the White House should prioritize U.S. policy over foreign leaders.
