Death Stranding anime series coming to Disney+

Newsletter: Death Stranding Isolations (working title) is an anime series that will be released on Disney+ in 2027.

Announced on Preview Disney+ Original Movies At Hong Kong Disneyland, the series is led by Japanese animation studio E and H Production, founded in 2021 by former MAPPA director and animator Sunghu Park.

In addition to E and H, the team includes Hideo Kojima as executive producer, Takayuki Sano as director, and Ilya Kuvshinov as original character designer. Insulation will tell a new story based on the Death Stranding universe.

“Somewhere in North America, just as Sam Bridges marches across the continent to save America, someone is also trying to cope with their isolation in their own way. The old man attempts to effect salvation in ways that go beyond the bond that Bridges advocates. A warrior woman who is trying to start a world of constant fighting. A boy with a grudge against Bridges. A girl who embraces loneliness,” the ad says. “On the cusp of the end of humanity and the world, their fates and hopes converge as another Death Stranding story begins.”

The animated series joins Kojima Productions' larger transmedia project, marking the release of an animated film. Death Stranding: Mosquitoand also Game adaptation of A24. Insulation this is a special case because Disney+ hasn't seen many live-action adaptations yet, unlike Netflix with Secret, Cyberpunk: Edge RunnersAnd The Witcheramong others.
