There's a very specific OLED gaming monitor form factor that I find appealing: increasing the size without increasing the resolution. This means you get a bigger, bolder picture for your games without overwhelming your gaming desktop or laptop with too many pixels. Today you can get an ultra-wide 45-inch OLED display from LG. for $899.99$800 off original price.
As I said, the LG Ultragear OLED 45GX90SA-B pulls off a neat trick by upping the 3440×1440 resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio typically found on 34-inch ultrawide screens all the way up to 45 inches wide. That's about 733 square inches for a full panel, compared to 419 square inches. It's so much more That's what I'm talking about here: all without any additional power required to provide the same visual effects.
Of course, the resolution isn't quite as great on similarly sized 49-inch super-mega-ultrawide screens (but is actually quite a bit smaller), and you don't get any extra multitasking capabilities when you're not playing a game or watching a video. But I think it's a good compromise for those who don't have the latest and greatest graphics card.
This monitor has plenty of other high-end features, including an immersive curved panel, a 240Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time for high-speed multiplayer gaming, 65W USB-C for easy laptop connectivity (though the most powerful gaming laptops may need a little more power), and built-in WebOS apps for streaming content without the need for a PC.
An $800 discount off the retail price is pretty darn fantastic, although I wouldn't blame you if you think $900 is too much, even for a very good monitor.
