Over the years the 28 year old Simone Biles has been quite open about undergoing procedures to improve her appearance: last year the Olympian revealed that she got baby botox on her 27th birthday, but she was not pleased with the results.
Then, last month, Simone fueled speculation that she had her breasts enlarged after she shared a video of herself doing gymnastics with the caption: “First revolution – in a year – in a new house – with a new one 🍒.”
And the star confirmed the procedure in late October after she shared a TikTok video where she teased, “I've had three plastic surgeries, two of which you'll never be able to tell.” Simone then asked her followers to guess the procedure in the comments.
She later responded to one of the comments by revealing three things, writing: “🍒 lower lip because I had the WORST eye bags and earlobe – my earring got ripped out when I was younger,” with a cherry emoji seemingly referring to a boob job.
Now Simone has opened up about her decision to tell her followers about the beauty work she had done, and honestly? She makes a good point.
Talking to PeopleSimone explained that she hopes her openness will help young people understand that what they see on social media “isn't real” and that not everyone looks “that good” naturally – in fact, everyone has their own insecurities. Simone also wants to eliminate the feeling of “shame” around cosmetic procedures if it helps people feel more confident about themselves.
“I've always tried to be open, honest and approachable. Seeing me win medals at the Olympics is not fun,” Simone began. “But what matters is how we treat ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through and how we share openly and honestly.”
“It shows young girls that they have the right to make their own choices, no matter who they are, and there is nothing to be ashamed of,” she continued. “I feel like now with social media, you see everyone and you're like, 'Oh my God, how does she look so good?' Social media is unreal, so I try to be as transparent as possible.”
Explaining her thought process behind the procedures, Simone added: “I have a bottom bluff because me and my family have what I call 'Biles eye bags.' We always had them, hereditary ones, and it was just a big drawback. Every time I would show up for a shoot, they would say, “Oh, can we put some stripes on it?” And I thought, “Oh baby, I had 12 hours last night, they're not going anywhere.” It's just heredity.” So that’s something I wanted to fix.”
Discussing her breast augmentation, Simone said: “It's not that I don't like the way I looked or the way I felt, it's just that I notice it obviously a little more because I live in this body, I'm just so used to it.”
