GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD

Re: Council passed Lansdowne 2.0 after close 15-10 vote, online November 7th.

Once again, the government level is completely ignoring the will of the taxpayer. Lansdowne's first phase was an absolute failure in terms of revenue generation, but hey, who cares, right? Let's throw more good money after bad.

This is not just a municipal government problem, it is a serious problem at all levels of government. The City of Ottawa is already in debt and now there will be even more because you can bet dollars to donuts that this project, like any other, will not be completed on time or on budget.

We have crumbling infrastructure (bursting sewers, roads that are just a patchwork of potholes, etc.) that desperately needs attention but is being ignored.

If the city council wants Lansdowne 2.0 so badly, then let them pay for it. Mayor Mark Sutcliffe is turning out to be another Jim Watson, and that's not good.

Re: Why the poppy ban in Canadian courtrooms betrays what veterans fought for, November 11

You know we're in trouble when Nova Scotia's legal system bans poppy (in courtrooms) because it can be perceived as too political.

Well, this is a perfect example of the decline and fall of Canada as a whole, thanks to those always inclusive leftists who believe that nothing in this country should rise above their personal moral superiority.
to show us that wearing a poppy in a courtroom is some kind of political statement.

This is somewhat personal for me as my father was a tank commander in World War II, fought throughout Europe, was wounded in Holland just days before the end of the war, and died with bullet fragments in his neck and spine 60+ years later.
