Back in August, Google promised several significant updates to Google Gemini Live—Gemini's real-time conversational interface—and those updates are now rolling out to Android and iOS, giving you access to “more responsive and expressive conversations.”
According to official blog postthis latest update gives you more control over your AI chats and opens up new ways to learn. Gemini Live already felt natural and intuitive—much like talking to a real person—and now it's even more so.
“Conversations are more than just words,” says Google. “They concern the nuances of our speech—the rise and fall of our voice, the rhythm of our sentences, and the tone of our words.” The new updates to Gemini Live are said to “significantly improve the ability to understand and use key elements of human speech.”
Google AI CEO Josh Woodward moved onstating that the new models represent “the biggest update to Gemini Live ever” and publishing some scenarios in which the improvements are evident, including teaching skills, tests and accents.

Five new updates mean Gemini Live should make better use of intonation, rhythm and pitch. First, you can force him to speak slower or faster, and if you're talking about something stressful, he might automatically respond in a calmer-than-usual voice.
Storytelling is another area where you can hear it: get Gemini Live to tell you the history of the Roman Empire through the eyes of Julius Caesar, and you'll see it presented in dramatic audio form with character accents.
Speaking of accents, you can now make Gemini Live simulate accents ranging from cowboy to cockney. Google also says Gemini is now better at providing you with a personalized learning experience: Whether you're trying to improve your knowledge of a foreign language or a classic novel, Gemini Live can provide you with personalized, adaptive learning.
Other test scenarios are practice conversations, whether you're preparing for a job interview or a difficult family conversation. Google says Gemini Live offers “an accessible practice environment that will help you gain confidence and improve your communication skills.”
