- The second beta version of iOS 26.2 is now available
- It adds a screensaver to the Games app, Liquid Glass effects to the Level tool, and a way to turn off pinned conversations in messages in CarPlay.
- This also makes some animations smoother.
After launch first beta version of iOS 26.2 about a week ago the second beta version was released, which added additional features and improvements.
While it doesn't have as much as the previous beta, there are three notable changes, as noted 9to5Macthat affect the Games, Messages, and Measurement apps.
First, when you launch the Games app, a new splash screen appears that highlights the changes iOS 26.2 has made to it. Besides the splash screen, these changes were already available in the first beta, but they were easy to miss.
Specifically, the changes include new ways to filter your game library, such as filtering by games your friends are playing, challenge scores are now updated in real time while you play, and improved in-app controller navigation.
Liquid glass effects and smoother animations
In the Measurement app, the Level tool now has a Liquid Glass effect, making it more consistent with the rest of the interface, and Messages now allows you to turn off pinned messages when viewing the app in CarPlay. CarPlay used to simply mirror the Messages app on your iPhone, but not everyone necessarily needs pinned conversations in the car.
Additionally, the second beta of iOS 26.2 also makes the animation smoother when opening menus.
Okay, so it's not the most exciting update, but when you consider all that and what we already saw in the first beta—like the Liquid Glass lock screen slider, reminder tones, sleep metrics improvements, and more—iOS 26.2 overall looks like a significant update.
If you want to try this latest iOS beta, you can head over to our guide dedicated to how to download and install beta versions of iOSbut if you don't have a secondary phone to install it on, we don't necessarily recommend it, as it will likely be less stable and polished than off-the-shelf software.
However, you probably won't have to wait too long to get your hands on iOS 26.2, as the update will likely arrive sometime in December.
