How about this Steam Engine, huh? Consoles are now computers, and computers are now consoles. What an upside down world we live in! I'm sure you have many questions, many of which I hope James can answer. practical view of thingsbut you might still be wondering how to know which games will actually run on it. The Steam Deck has its own trendy checked icon this certifies that the game is running on a portable device, and it turns out that the same icon is useful for the Steam Machine.
In a stunning summary blog post from Valve discussing the trio of hardware announcements, there's also a little bit about what it all means for developers. No, don’t run away, this is true for you too! Valve explains that its proven program will be expanded to include both Steam Machine and Steam framepromising more details soon. However! As they note, “if your games are already verified by Steam Deck, they will be automatically verified on Steam Machine.”
Basically, it sounds like there will be unique verified icons for the Machine and Frame, but any games you have accumulated for your Steam Deck that are verified by Steam Deck are already ready to use on that Steam Machine you already bought in your head.
For those of you who are actually developers, Valve is also announcing that they have launched the Steam Frame Developer Kit program. Apparently, their supply is quite limited, but the company plans to send out kits “on an ongoing basis.”
So, when the next Steam sale approaches and you notice that out of your list of 20 games, 17 are Deck-reviewed, you can buy safely knowing that they will also be playable on a Valve console of sorts. I am sure this will help you deal with your religious debt.
