In a dramatic game on Wednesday, the Cangrejeros de Santurce beat Gigantes de Carolina 7-6, extending their winning streak to five and handing their opponents their first defeat of the season.
With this victory, the Cangrejeros became leaders of the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League.
The Cangrejeros dictated the game with a four-run attack in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jack Lopez hit a solo home run, Spencer Packard added a two-run homer, and Andrew Velasquez ended the game with an RBI single that kept the Giants on the field.
In Ponce, Japan's Kazuto Taguchi pitched six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts while Edwin Diaz had the only run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the first inning as the Leones de Ponce defeated the Criollos de Caguas 1-0.
Cordero gives Leones victory over Gigantes in the Dominican Republic
Former Major Leaguer Franchy Cordero was the offensive force in Leones del Esgido's 5-3 win over Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Baseball League.
Cordero, who played seven seasons in the major leagues from 2017 to 2023, hit a three-run home run in the third inning.
At San Pedro de Macoris, Adael Amador hit a two-run home run while Ezequiel Duran broke the tie with an RBI single in the seventh inning to give Aguilas Cibaeñas a 5–3 victory over Estrellas Orientales.
Alcides Escobar shines in Sharks triumph in Venezuela
Major League veteran Alcides Escobar had a stellar offensive performance to lead Tiburones de la Guaira to a 7-2 victory over Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
Escobar, who played 13 seasons in the major leagues and won a World Series title in 2015 with the Kansas City Royals, was 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Daniel Montaño also hit a solo home run.
At Porlamar, Antonio Piñero went 2-for-5 with a double and four RBIs to lead Caribes de Anzoategui to an 8-3 victory over Bravos de Margarita.
Águilas del Zulia beat Tigres de Aragua 10-7 in Maracaibo. Jose Godoy went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Everson Arteaga went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
