Majority of Proline players had Saskatchewan Roughriders reaching Grey Cup – Brandon Sun

Most Proline bettors are not surprised to see the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Gray Cup.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., 67 per cent of players backed Saskatchewan's 24-21 win over the BC Lions in the West Division last Saturday. But it was close as the Riders secured the win with Trevor Harris' 3-yard pass to Tommy Nield with 11 seconds left.

The Riders will be vying for the fifth Gray Cup title in franchise history on Sunday when they take on the Montreal Alouettes at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg.

In the Western final, 62 percent of bettors had Saskatchewan at -2.5, but only 35 percent correctly backed the under at 52.5.

Montreal earned its second Gray Cup berth since 2023 with a 19-16 victory in the East final over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Alouetta kicker Jose Maltos Diaz kicked it from 45 yards out on the final play.

Just 34 percent of bettors backed Montreal to win, while 47 percent had the Alouettes on the -2.5 spread. But only 25 percent correctly supported the lower figure of 53.5.

Montreal is a slight favorite heading into the game, with 53 percent backing the Alouettes to secure the ninth Gray Cup title in franchise history.
