Poor California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom.
Despite the disaster Newsom has wreaked on the no-longer-golden state during his nearly six years in office, the perpetually pompous dude with the perfect hair wants to be president so badly he can probably taste it.
Add to that the obvious reality that President Donald Trump lives rent-free in Newsom's head 24/7, and it's impossible to predict what the complacent governor is going to do next.
In one of his most Newsom-esque moves, Gavin (read: “Hair Gel”) used the global stage of the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference on Tuesday (KS30) in Brazil to promote a new “climate” partnership with Nigeria.
How most of the world knows, including countries and political parties that refuse to admit it, systematic attacks (killings) of Nigerian Christians have reached shocking levels. More Christians have been killed for their faith in Nigeria than in any other country; between 2019 and 2023, almost 17,000 Christians were killed in targeted attacks.
I won't write what I I really think about Newsom and his “deal” given the ongoing atrocities in the West African country, but I'm guessing the California Democrat is more concerned with “looking president” than probably anything else on the planet as he sets his sights on a run for the White House in 2028.
Newsom's deal comes as the Trump administration reinstated Nigeria's status in October as Country of Particular Concernreviving policies adopted by Trump during his first term that were later reversed by the Biden administration.

In a message to X on Wednesday, Newsom, trying to look like a president and all, boasted about the agreement while patting himself on the back:
California just teamed up with Nigeria in a new climate partnership in #COP30 — focuses on cleaner transport, climate adaptation and pollution reduction.
Real action, global cooperation!
Yep, Gavin. Now do Pacific Palisade Fire.

Here more:
Civil rights organizations and international Christian rights groups have repeatedly accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect Christians and even provide sanctuary to 22 Islamic terrorist organizations. Researchers have traced a trend of increased violence, cleric abductions and mass displacements, warning that the government's denial constitutes complicity given overwhelming evidence that the crisis meets the legal threshold of genocide under Article II of the UN Genocide Convention.
Trump cited horrific numbers – thousands of Nigerian Christians killed, churches destroyed – and called for urgent congressional attention and possible sanctions, making it clear that the US cannot simply stand by while these atrocities unfold. Trump's announcement and subsequent support from congressional leaders signaled a renewed willingness to apply diplomatic and economic pressure on behalf of persecuted Christians.
So here it is.
Newsom promotes California's “model of cooperation as a global plan to combat climate change,” while President Trump and his allies in Congress emphasize that religious freedom is a cornerstone of American foreign policy, highlighting Nigeria's horrific atrocities against its own people who turn out to believe in the “wrong religion.” Go figure it out.
