Gemini for TV is coming to Google TV Streamer as of today

Starting today, Google is launching Gemini for TV for its streaming devices, allowing virtually anyone with a Google streaming device to try it out.

To begin with, Google announced back in May that Gemini coming to Android Auto, TV and XR; however, the September rollout of Gemini TV was only available on select Smart TV models. If you didn't have one of these devices, you'll have to wait until it becomes available on other devices. Now all you need is a TV and Google TV Streamer with HDCP 1.3 or later.

Gemini for TV replaces the long-running Google Assistant, which is currently being phased out on most Google devices. Gemini for TV offers the same basic voice assistant capabilities as Google Assistant, but with what Edge describes as “a more conversational tone.”

One example is asking for movie recommendations based on you and your friend's preferred genres, asking for help summarizing what something is for your child, or even asking who the main actor in a TV series is. You can also use Gemini for TV for smart home tasks, such as setting a timer or going live from your camera.

According to Edge, Gemini for TV will be available on Google TV Streamer devices over the next few weeks, so it may not be available on all devices just yet. To check if the update is available, go to Settings, find your account, then go to Accounts & Profiles, where you should see a Voice Assistant button. From there you can see the Gemini option for TV if available.
