My colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell did an excellent report on violence at the TPUSA event at UC Berkeley on Monday.
The situation spiraled out of control as violence broke out and radical leftists tried to break down the barriers keeping them out of the sold-out event.

Then this conversation happened, which began with agitators chasing a patron who was wearing a Charlie Kirk “Freedom” T-shirt and trying to talk about Jesus Christ. It ended in violence and arrest. “Chinga la Migra” essentially means “Fuck the immigration authorities.”

UC Berkeley (Nov. 10) – A far-left extremist stole a necklace from a conservative man and then punched him in the face multiple times when he tried to return it outside a TPUSA event. The victim was bloodied and he was racially derided by leftists for being white.pic.twitter.com/n5aaiU75mG

One of the agitators chased a guy in a red shirt, calling him a “white boy,” while the agitators tried to “de-arrest” another man and get him away from the police. They were unsuccessful.
Berkeley police now claiming that the man in the plaid shirt, Jihad Dfrepaulezz, took the chain that the guy in the Liberty shirt was wearing around his neck, and that the man was trying to give it back. Police said Dphrepaulezz was booked on suspicion of robbery and battery resulting in bodily injury.
Now, Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon has weighed in on the matter, and she's not happy with how Berkeley handled the matter. Looks like Berkeley has a lot of explaining to do. She noted that there have been problems here before.
We saw all this in Berkeley back in 2017. @UCBerkeley was sued and settled.
@CivilRights is investigating what happened here, and I see several issues of serious concern regarding campus and local safety, as well as Antifa's ability to operate with impunity in California. https://t.co/aN7JzouXwl

She warned the university and the city of Berkeley to expect more correspondence.
Berkeley: @UCBerkeley and the city of Berkeley should expect some revenue @CivilRights correspondence. And one more thing. In America, we don't allow citizens to be attacked by violent thugs and shrug their shoulders and turn away. Been there, done that, not on our watch.

It didn't take long. She said the civil rights office is launching a full investigation and is sending letters to the university president and university police.
Mob attacks and violent intimidation of participants exercising their First Amendment rights are unacceptable.

She also called on the university and university police to preserve all records related to the event and said, “Every American has the right to speak and attend events without fear.”
