After a convincing win over the Mammoth on Saturday night, the Canadiens were back in action tonight as the Los Angeles Kings were in town.
On this occasion, Samuel Montembault returned to the goal.

As for the goals, the first period was very quiet… until the very last minute.
Josh Anderson unleashed cannonball from the slot to open an account.

After 20 minutes, the score became 1:0 in favor of the Canadiens.
However, things went even worse for Montreal in the second half. The club got off to a rocky start and Joel Edmundson took advantage of it.
He scored his first goal of the season.

And things didn't get any better in the minutes that followed…and the Kings kept the pedal to the metal and added two goals in a span of 65 seconds.
Samuel Montembeault, who had just had a good first period, snatched one.

Martin St. Louis stirred the soup late in the period, and we even saw Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Ivan Demidov, Lane Hutson and Noah Dobson all used at the same time at 5-on-5.
They were sent to the ice in the offensive zone… before returning to their normal positions.

After 40 minutes the score was 3:1 in favor of the Kings.
In the third period, the Kings continued to silence the Habs… and Joel Armia found a way to score against his former club, too.
He made fun of Lane Hutson.

Martin Saint-Louis tried to provide a late spark by sending Demidov back to the top line, but was unsuccessful. Warren Voegele finished the scoring on an empty net.
That gave the Habs their first loss in regulation since Oct. 23… but also their third loss in four games.
Final score: 5-1 Los Angeles
The Canadiens return to action Thursday night when the Dallas Stars come to town.
Extension
– The Canadiens really had a tough game tonight. Everything on the ice seemed tedious… and we finally saw that the club wouldn't be pulling a rabbit out of a hat every night. Let's hope this doesn't become a trend… and that the club adapts accordingly. #ShootMoreOften
– Lane Hutson played his 100th NHL game today. On this occasion, he made his 75th career assist. Not a bad kid.

– Among Team Canada's leaders at the Bell Center tonight, the Habs' best player was Josh Anderson. Perhaps he wanted to prove that he was worthy of being on the team, especially if he had to take Tom Wilson's place, hehe.
– As the Habs took advantage of a 5-on-3 play in the first period, Noah Dobson took Juraj Slafkowski's place on the power play. Therefore, the composition of the massive forward varies depending on the number of opposing players on the ice.
Juraj Slafkowski is replaced by Noah Dobson on PP1 in a 5v3 matchup.

– The Canadiens have lost their last nine games to the Kings. Marc Bergevin apparently has his old club's number.
