Singer-songwriter Tish Hyman spoke out against far-left California State Senator Scott Wiener after a man claiming to be a woman harassed her in the Gold's Gym locker room.
Los Angeles resident Hyman, who is also a lesbian, was recently banned from the gym after she accused a man of entering a women's locker room.
“Stay away from the women's locker room. We don't want that!” Hyman told the man in a video that went viral.
Hyman also shared video of the incident on her Instagram, writing in the caption that she and other women had made several complaints to gym staff about a man entering their locker room.
“Several women and I have repeatedly filed written reports against this man for entering our women's locker room and harassing us, and the gym staff did absolutely nothing!” she wrote. “He disrespected me several times and I was only ignored when I quietly reported it. But today I made a fuss!!”
Reports came up later that the man, Alexis Black, was accused of brutally beating his ex-wife before taking her name when he transitioned.
Hyman confronted Scott Wiener, who is currently running for the empty Congressional seat of former Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), at a town hall meeting about the incident.
“As a lesbian woman who was assaulted in the women's locker room at Gold's Gym this week by a self-identified trans woman with a documented history of domestic violence, I am deeply concerned about the safety of women in women-only spaces,” Hyman Wiener said during the meeting.
“What would you say to women who are seeking reassurance that their safety will be protected from men who, under California law, can identify as women in women-only spaces. Sir, please tell me,” she added.
Wiener returned to the standard theses of radical transgender ideology.
“We want everyone to be safe. And we also know that we have transgender people, both men and women – men and women,” he responded.
“So trans women are women,” he added.
Hyman refused to back down.
“I'm telling you now, millions of women across America are being harassed and sexually assaulted in locker rooms. I'm a black lesbian woman, I'm not transphobic, I'm not homophobic… but I see that many of the bills you've passed are dangerous for women and young children,” she said.
Although Wiener apologized for attacking Hyman, he refused to acknowledge that allowing men into women's locker rooms was harmful to women.
“Obviously this is incredibly important, and I also know that trans women are also mistreated in this country, so we have to protect the safety of women,” he said.
Hyman headed for the exit.
“I won’t stand for this… you guys don’t protect women,” she said.
