Blues looking to trade : Any ties to the Habs?

The St. Louis Blues find themselves in a strange situation.

The club has the luxury of talented players on its roster… but the results this season are lacking. The boys do not live up to expectations, as a result of which the Blues occupy second-to-last place in the overall standings of the National League.

In other words, it's bad out there… and we can start to see the consequences.

Frank Seravalli on his podcastmentioned that the Blues are currently planning to make several transactions. Doug Armstrong (GM) is apparently fed up with seeing his club lose and appears ready to give up on the season – although it didn't last long.

And Seravalli talks about Braden Schenn as the most likely candidate to transfer before anyone else. The 34-year-old captain has two goals and four assists in 16 games.

Seravalli also mentioned that Jordan Kyrou is still a popular name in the rumor mill… but it could be a while before we see him traded.

However, there is an indirect connection between the Blues' situation and the Montreal Canadiens' situation.

The Blues are looking to get rid of some pieces, while the Habs would like to add talent to their group to improve the team on the ice…

Is there a “fit” between the two clubs in terms of the deal? Reminder: Armstrong and Kent Hughes are two trading partners who know each other well: they danced together this summer (Zachary Bolduc vs. Logan Mayu)…

We all know the Blues general manager will be aggressive in his demands, and that's to be expected. It's early in the season and he won't want to empty his club just for fun or just because things aren't going well on the ice.

At the same time, we know that Kent Hughes is not afraid to overpay to improve his club. Here again, it looks like some interesting connections can be made between the Blues and Canadiens…
