Madi Diaz Records Blink-182 ‘Enema of the State’ for Anti-ICE Benefit

Proceeds will go to the Defense Our Neighbors Fund to provide legal assistance to immigrants as ICE crackdowns increase under the Trump administration.

Madi Diaz never planned to release a cover version track by track Blink-182seminal record Enema of the State which she recorded during the making of her latest album, Fatal optimist. Coming into the studio every morning and recording her version of a different song from the project was an exercise in allowing “nostalgia to jog my memory of the lyrics and break through the punk acoustic arrangement,” the musician shared in an interview. Instagram. But the more time she spent with the already familiar record, the more the irony surrounding it became apparent to her.

“We started thinking about how incredible the name Enema Of The State is for a record,” Diaz said. “The title is somehow so relevant and politically, culturally, socially ironic… How ridiculous it is to highlight this record in 2025 when it seems like we need to flush the system and give our entire government a health check/gut check.”

Her version Enema of the State — playfully dubbed Enema (garden) conditionas it was cut in New Jersey – available for purchase via Bandcamp. All proceeds from the release will go to the Defense Our Neighbors Fund. Community-run fund helps provide legal support to immigrants as ICE crackdown escalates under Trump administration. Diaz hopes the record will help raise awareness and money for those who “need protection and assistance in their right to live, work, breathe, be and remain on American soil.”

“There is so much going on right now across America, so much pain caused by ICE raids and false convictions of hardworking American citizens and undocumented immigrants,” Diaz said. “I may have been born in the United States, but my family came from Danish and Peruvian immigrants. Much of the United States is populated by people who came from other places. There are many people here that we should love, protect and cherish.”
