Iowo -City, Iowa. The State Agency canceled the professional license of the leader of the largest school district of Ayova on Monday, a few days after the federal agents arrested him on charges of living and working in the country illegally.
The Ayova Council said in a letter to the superintendent of state schools de -Moemon Jan Roberts that he had no right to have a license, because “you no longer own the legal presence in the United States.”
American immigration and customs agencies detained Roberts on Friday, saying that he was a citizen of the final order to remove, which the judge released in May 2024. According to ICE, Roberts, a native of Gayana, who entered the United States on a student visa in 1999. He is kept in the prison of Ayov.
Ice said that Roberts escaped after stopping the movement in de -Moon, and that he was detained with the help of a patrol of Iowa. The agency said that 54-year-old Roberts had a loaded gun in his district vehicle, a hunting knife and $ 3,000 in cash during the arrest.
The officials of the De -Moin school said that they did not know anything that Roberts was illegally in the country, and that he signed a form confirming his right to work when he was hired in 2023.
The district said that Roberts was identified as a candidate for work by a search company and that “a comprehensive verification of biographical data” was completed as part of the process. The State Council, which provided Roberts with a license for as a superintendent, said that the process included data verification by the State Police and the FBI.
His arrest was shocked by the area where he was known as frequent presence at public events and a champion of students during his two -year stay. Roberts has been in education over the past two decades and served as a superintendent in Pennsylvania before it is hiring in Ayov.
The School Council Des Moines put Roberts on a paid administrative vacation during a brief special meeting on Saturday. The board said that on Monday day another meeting would take place to consider the issue of changing the status of Roberts’s vacation to unpaid, referring to the review of his license.
“New information and confirmed facts will continue to inform about our decisions when we are developing the way forward,” said Jackie Norris, chairman of the board of directors of state schools Des Moines. “At the same time, the two things can be the truth-Detor Roberts was an effective and respected leader, and there are serious issues related to his citizenship and the ability to legally fulfill his duties as a superintendent.”
ICE said that he asked the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to find out how Roberts received a gun. People in the country are illegally not have the right to own firearms. However, Roberts had a story of weapons, and it was quoted in Pennsylvania in 2021 and fined $ 100 for storing a loaded hunting rifle in their car.
ICE said that Roberts also had a separate, waiting for the prosecution of weapons, dated until February 2020, but did not provide additional details about the incident.
