IN Associated Press interview Last year, Latin Recording Academy CEO Manuel Aboud compared the Recording Academy — the governing body of the Grammy Awards — and the Latin Recording Academy to their sister organizations.
“Or maybe even mother and daughter,” he laughed. “The core is the same: We are a membership organization for music creators and music professionals. So, we celebrate musical excellence. We have the exact DNA. Our whole process is the Grammy process.”
While the Grammys are geared toward the U.S. market, he said the Latin Grammys have other global considerations. “Our voting process is, I would say, identical, but there are some adjustments to the international component that we have that they don’t.”
However, in 2026, the relationship between the Grammy Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards will become even closer. Last week, the Recording Academy announced that all Latin Grammy voting members were invited to join The Recording Academy as part of its new 2025 class of members.
