Gemini for TV extends to Google TV Streamer devices starting today, allowing almost everyone to try it. Because this launched back in SeptemberGemini for TV is only available on a limited number of smart TVs. If you didn't have one of these devices, you're out of luck. Gemini for TV is about to become much more affordable – all you need is a TV with an HDMI port to connect Google TV Streamer. HDCP 1.3 or laterand a reliable Internet connection.
Gemini for TV replaces Google Assistant, offering the same basic voice assistant capabilities but with a more conversational tone. For example, you can ask Gemini for TV to suggest you and a friend a movie based on your favorite genres, or ask it to recap the latest season of a show you're watching. You can also use Gemini for TV for smart home tasks, such as displaying camera feeds.
Gemini for TV will be available “over the next few weeks” on Google TV Streamer devices, so don't worry if your device doesn't already have it. You can check if an update is available by go to settings on Google TV Streamer by selecting your account under Accounts & Profiles and selecting Voice Assistant. If your device is eligible for the update, you should see a “Gemini for TV” option.
