Cleveland BrownsThe 2025 season brought what I thought were some new upsets in the Kevin Stefanski-Andrew Berry era, but they went 1-7. New York Jets A team that just this week traded two of its best players seems to be the lowest point of them all.
Jets quarterback Justin Fields attempted just 11 passes. He completed just six of them for a total of 54 yards, 42 of which came on a screen pass for a touchdown from running back Breece Hall. Because Fields was sacked three times for twelve yards, the Jets gained zero passing yards outside of this play. Browns lost the game.
The Browns are now 2-7 on the season. Their starting rookie quarterback continues to struggle, as does the rest of the offense. There's a bad atmosphere in Cleveland.
Let's take a look at how Browns fans reacted to Sunday's brutal loss.
KB
The unsettled situation at the quarterback position has been a central storyline for the Browns for much of the past year, and ten weeks into the season, there are still as many questions as there were immediately after April's draft. With Dillon Gabriel struggling, Sheader Sanders' time to shine may be quickly approaching. However, many Browns fans are already looking at players who are eligible for the upcoming draft. An ESPN's survey of NFL scouts and executives was released Saturday. reported that Indiana's Fernando Mendoza is widely viewed as the top defensive tackle prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Coaching
Browns fans have been quick to get angry at Kevin Stefanski since the start of the 2025 season, with the noise reaching an all-time high following Sunday's loss to the Jets. Cleveland's offense averaged just 3.2 yards per pass and played incredibly undisciplined football, picking up 10 flags for 78 yards on the day. That included brutal penalties late in the game – a defensive tackle by linebacker Devin Bush and an offsides call by defensive end Cameron Thomas – that gave the Jets a pair of first downs as they tried to run out the clock on the game's biggest drive. On top of that, the Browns allowed back-to-back special teams touchdowns on kickoffs and punt returns in the first quarter of the game, allowing the Jets to build a 14–7 lead without touching the ball on offense.
Long term perspective
Losing this live-action version of the New York Jets is gut-wrenching, but there may be some silver linings in the overall picture for the Browns. The loss to the Jets gives the Browns the tiebreaker for a higher pick in April's draft, where they previously had one win. Saints a win in the early window on Sunday will certainly help too.
Most importantly, though, the first-round pick the Browns acquired from Jacksonville in exchange for Travis Hunter in the 2025 draft just got a little sweeter. Jaguars blew a 19-point fourth-quarter lead in a loss to the Houston Texans and is now 5–4 on the season. According to the league standings updated after early Sunday in Week 10, the Jaguars are now barely clinging to seventh place in the AFC playoff standings, beating the Kansas City Chiefs by virtue of a head-to-head victory.
If the Browns are looking to enter the cornerback market this spring, improved draft capital could certainly help them acquire him.
