Halo Infinite will receive its last major update on November 18, 2025, which will allow Halo Studios to refocus on developing new games.
The shooter launched about four years ago in December 2021 and was initially billed by developer Halo Studios (formerly known as 343 Industries) as an evolving experience that can last a decade.
“Halo Infinite this is the beginning of our platform of the future,” said Halo Infinite studio head Chris Lee during an interview with IGN in 2020. “We want endless grow over time, rather than moving to numbered games and using all the segmentation that we had before. It's really about creating Halo Infinite as the beginning of the next ten years for Halo, and then building it together with our fans and community.”
After several turbulent years in Microsoft And Halo StudiosHowever, the name is relegated to the background.
“With multiple Halo games in development, we will need our entire team working together to deliver new experiences with the same passion and care our community has given us.” reads a blog post published by Halo Studios over the weekend.. “While we remain committed to supporting Halo Infinite Going forward, Operation: Infinite will be the last major content update planned at this time.”
Halo Studios is currently working on Halo: Campaign Progressionremake of the original Halo campaign in development for Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026.
It's unclear what other Halo projects the studio is developing. which has been forced to deal with a number of senior layoffs in recent yearscurrently under development.
Back in 2023said Halo Studios Head of Live Events Sean Baron. Halo Infinite became a “consistent” name for the online service in terms of content, but admitted that the team needed to improve the “technical and experimental quality” on offer.
Halo Studios will continue to support Halo Infinite with challenges, ranked seasons and rewards, and community events.
