It's been a wild ride for fans waiting Grand Craft Auto VI. The game was originally planned to be released in 2025, then officially announced with a May 2026 release date. But there were rumors that Grand Craft Auto VI may be postponed again, and now these rumors have become reality.
Yesterday, Rockstar Games announced in blog post What Grand Craft Auto VIlaunch postponed to November 19, 2026:
Hi all,
Grand Craft Auto VI will be released on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
We're sorry to add extra time to what we know has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game to the standard you expect and deserve.
We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we're incredibly excited for players to experience the vast state of Leonidas and return to modern Vice City.
Sincerely,
Rockstar Games
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also said in an interview:
When we set a date, we really believe in it. When we set the final date, we said that if the game needed work to become the best version of itself, then we would give that game more time. And that's exactly what happened. We are very pleased with this release date. It's the same fiscal year, it's a great release window, and naturally we're very supportive of Rockstar's approach.
When the game finally comes out, Grand Craft Auto VI will initially only work on Xbox Series X/S and Sony Playstation 5 consoles. However, a later release on PC is quite certain. Meanwhile, the entire industry I'm afraid of rumors about a retail price of $100..
