Katie Stengel scored the winning goal and helped seal the deal 2-1 victory for Gotham FC over Kansas City Turk in the quarterfinals of the NWSL playoffs on Sunday.
After the score ended 1-1 in regulation time, Stengel scored the winning goal in the 121st minute of the game.
As the match appeared to be heading towards a penalty shootout, Gotham kicked a long free kick from the halfway line towards the penalty area. Saw switched it on and Stengel reacted quickest and fired a shot off the crossbar and into the net from 6 yards.
The goal silenced the 11,500 fans at the sold-out CPKC Stadium, Current's home ground.
Shaw gave Gotham a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute. After the current defender Kayla Sharples Overwhelmed by the challenge, Shaw turned, entered the penalty area and fired a low shot.
There are only a few seconds left before the main time, Ellie Wheeler raced to the edge of the box to equalize for Current to make it 1-1 in the sixth minute of stoppage time in the second half.
In overtime, Kansas City piled on the pressure to take the lead and close out the game, but were unable to get past the Gotham goalie. Anne-Katrin Berger.

Current clinched the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, finishing first in the playoffs. NVSL regular season standings with a league record of 65 points. Gotham finished eighth with 36 points and was the lowest seed in the postseason.
This is only the second time the visiting team has defeated Current at the CPKC Stadium, which opens in 2024. The defeat ends Current's 18-match unbeaten run at home.
Eighth-seeded Gotham will now face No. 4 seed. Orlando Pride in the semi-finals.
