Toronto, November 6, 2025: The Walrus is pleased to welcome Qetsiyah Bebois as a 2025/26 CIBC Digital Emerging Black Journalists Fellow, the fourth fellow through this partnership.
A writer and creator driven by a passion for storytelling in all its forms, Bebois brings his interest in ideas, voices and perspectives in journalism to The Walrus, continuing to create stories that challenge, entertain and connect audiences.
The fellowship will provide Bebois with hands-on training and mentorship to conceptualize, create, and share stories across multiple digital platforms. She will also benefit from personalized guidance tailored to her goals, a collaborative environment, and opportunities to participate in educational and career development workshops.

In partnership with CIBC, this fellowship was created to offer early-career Black journalists the opportunity to build a strong foundation in contemporary journalism practice, including digital production, while contributing to the ongoing conversation in Canada through compelling multimedia storytelling.

Qetsiyah Bebua
Qetsiyah is a writer and creator driven by a passion for storytelling in all its forms. She explores storytelling through film, television and digital media, participating in projects ranging from a short documentary film airing on PBS. Passion and Drive her surreal short film Waist. She is currently working on a half-hour comedy series. Misdirectedwhich was chosen by Archipelago. At The Walrus, she pursues an interest in ideas, voices and perspectives in journalism, continuing to create stories that challenge, entertain and connect audiences. Looking to the future, she aims to continue to merge creative and journalistic storytelling to reach global audiences across multiple platforms.
