VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Goldeneyes and Seattle Torrent are the names of two Professional Women's Hockey League expansion teams joining the league this season.
The PWHL has unveiled the names and logos of the clubs that will increase the number of teams from six to eight when the league begins its third season on November 21.
The PWHL played its first season before giving names and logos to its original six clubs in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, New York, Boston and St. Paul, Minnesota.
Torrent and the Goldeneyes will meet on opening day at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.
Vancouver's logo features a golden bird's eye in the center.
According to the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology, the goldeneye is a diving duck found in inland lakes, rivers and coastal waters. She flies fast.
