FIRST ON FOX: A House GOP lawmaker is proposing to block federal funds from New York for as long as Zogran Mamdani is the mayor.
The new law, spearheaded by Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter, is called the Moving American Money Away from Anti-National Interests Act, or the MAMDANI Act for short.
The two-page text of the bill stated that “notwithstanding any other provision of law, during any period during which Zoran Mamdani serves as Mayor of New York, New York,” “any unobligated Federal funds available” to the city “are hereby revoked” and that “no Federal funds may be obligated or expended for any purpose for New York, New York.”

The 34-year-old socialist won New York's mayoral election on Tuesday, defeating the former New York governor. Andrew Cuomo is running as an independent against Republican Curtis Plum.
His victory came as no surprise to election observers; New York has not elected a Republican mayor since Michael Bloomberg won a second term in 2005.
While Carter's bill is unlikely to pass the House, it is a symbol of how the GOP is too focused on Mamdani's victory. Republican leaders in the House of Representatives, positioning him as the new leader of the Democratic Party.

On Wednesday, a House Republican campaign official told Fox News Digital that the GOP will seek to connect vulnerable Democrats across the country to Mamdani and his far-left platforms.
Carter, who running for US Senate from GeorgiaHe said his state's taxpayer dollars “should not be wasted on programs that will bankrupt the financial capital of the world.”

“If New Yorkers want communism, we must allow them to pursue their desires, not artificially support them through our successful capitalist system,” Carter said. “Any New Yorker with common sense can move to the great, FREE state of Georgia.”
Historically, New York State has sent more taxpayer dollars to the federal government than it receives federal dollars.
