900th Ovechkin goal: Jordan Binnington runs away with the puck

The Capitals and Blues go head to head tonight and let's just say St. Louis gets their money's worth. After two periods the score was 5:0, but that wasn't what caught our attention.

After several games of waiting, the moment finally arrived for Alex Ovechkin as he scored his 900th career goal. He did it by thwarting Jordan Binnington with a beautiful backhand.

As all his teammates headed towards him to celebrate, Binnington took the opportunity to grab the puck and hide it in his shorts.

He literally ran away with the puck before the linesman noticed and asked for it back.

Quite a crazy scene, but when you know the goalie in question, it's not that surprising. Binnington has a tendency to lose his temper and make similar gestures. Here's a good example.

The goalkeeper is not having the expected start to the season. He has three wins in ten games, a 3.08 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

He could be in danger of not making Team Canada if he keeps this up. On Wednesday evening, he expressed his disappointment in this way. He knows there are goalies who start the season better.

Even if the gesture isn't brilliant, it's what makes Binnington unique. He has quite a special personality, as we saw in the 4 Nations match. Personally, I don't attach any importance to it, it's quite funny to me. Judging by the reactions, this is definitely not the case for everyone.

After a while

“Davidson could have gotten his chance.”

– It’s very difficult.
