When you purchase a digital Nintendo Switch game from a major retailer such as Amazon and Walmart, you will receive a download code to redeem on Nintendo eShop. Both games were first discounted at these prices in mid-October and went back on sale on November 5th. Amazon previously had the Xenoblade 2 Expansion Pass for the same price as Walmart, but it has since sold out. Neither game is discounted too often, and these are two of the best RPG games to play on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition remains one of the best RPGs on the Nintendo Switch more than five years after its release. This is even more impressive when you consider the fact that the Definitive Edition was the third version of Monolith Soft's massive adventure. Xenoblade was originally released on the Wii in 2010 and was later ported to the New Nintendo 3DS in 2015.
Xenoblade Chronicles has a very rewarding real-time combat system with plenty of difficulty settings available. The Definitive Edition's Future Connected epilogue adds 10–20 hours of additional story content on top of the 50+ hour main campaign.
In addition to its excellent gameplay and beautiful world to explore, Xenoblade Chronicles has a great cast led by protagonist Shulk and an excellent script. In terms of story, the Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy is one of the best modern series in the genre.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 released in 2017 as the first major exclusive RPG for the Nintendo Switch. While it's not as highly rated as the original, it's still one of the best RPGs on the Switch (and Switch 2). Although technically you don't do that need To play the first game to enjoy Xenoblade 2, it is highly recommended that you play through each game in chronological order to get the full flavor of the trilogy's overarching story.
The sequel has some pacing and storytelling issues, but the combat remains awesome and the expansive world is a joy to explore. Xenoblade 2 starts out rather slow, but the second half of the 60-hour campaign is exciting. Check out our Xenoblade Chronicles 2 review for more details.

A standalone expansion called Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Country, released in 2018. Torna takes place approximately 500 years after the base game and features a new cast of characters. The roughly 20-hour campaign is available as a separate purchase for $40, but if you own the base game, you'll save money by purchasing the Expansion Pass instead.
Selling at Walmart for just $20.88—about half the price of Torna itself—the Expansion Pass includes a story expansion, additional quests, a Challenge Battle mode, several rare blades for Shulk and Fiora, and other items.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 isn't discounted as much, but you can save about five dollars on your purchase. digital bundle with base game and Expansion Pass on Amazon.

The US editions of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna – The Golden Country often sell for above retail price, but you can often get these and other Xenoblade games for less by choosing to import from the UK without region restrictions. Regardless of region, obtaining physical editions of the Xenoblade trilogy often means purchasing from third-party resellers. The physical releases listed above are sourced from resellers but are sold by Amazon or Walmart.
An improved port of the Wii U spin-off Xenoblade Chronicles X, released on Nintendo Switch in March. The physical edition of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition is available for $54.78 (was $60) on the website Amazon And Walmart. Xenoblade Chronicles X is more action-oriented than the main trilogy and can be fully enjoyed without prior knowledge of the series.
Note: If you purchase the international version of Xenoblade 2, it will only be compatible with the Expansion Pass from the European eShop. This does not apply to the standalone edition of Torna – The Golden Country, as it is considered a standalone game. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 also has an Expansion Pass, which must match the region of your physical or digital copy.
