Former Guns N' Roses Manager Alan Niven is suing the band for allegedly trying to block the release of his memoir. Biography entitled Sound N' Fury: Rock 'n' Roll Stories The book was previously scheduled to be released in July this year, then in September, but has now been pushed back to March 2026. Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that Axl Rose's legal team is trying to block the book's publication.
Niven and Rose have a long-standing feud, dating back to 1991 when Rose refused to continue working on the band's album. Use your illusion albums if Niven remained the band's manager, leading to a settlement signed by Slash, Izzy Stradlin and Duff McKagan, but not Rose, and Niven's departure.
Louder sound Legal documents filed on November 3 reportedly show that Niven sought legal action, claiming the group was trying to block the release of his memoir. Additionally, records show that GNR used a confidentiality clause in the 1991 agreement, an alleged attempt to block publication of the book, backed by “repeated threats against Niven and contacts with [publisher] EKV.”
In an interview with Classic rockNiven discussed the agreement, stating: “Axl first violated the terms of the agreement in 1991” and “By 2009, I was fed up with his public comments and began doing interviews.”
“Axl seems to forget that no one, and I mean no one, wanted to coach him in 1986. In 1991 I put Wembley Stadium up for sale. I've done my job. I think what we're dealing with here is a failure to evaluate,” the former coach said.
Despite the lawsuit, the biography remains available to pre order.
