Gossip casting director David Rapaport told Jessica about Gossip Spin-off about Serena's mom, Lily van der Woodsen (Kelly Rutherford), starring the pilot Brittany Snow And Krysten Ritter.
“I remember for this Dakota Johnson came and Rooney Maraand many other women who are big names now but didn’t have that status at the time,” he recalls on XOXO. “And you know who read it best? I'll tell you because I think you're friends with Nina Dobrevit was one of the best auditions I've ever seen, especially for this role.”
David said he called the TV station and said, “She's a superstar.”
However, the problem, as he recalled on the podcast, was that “she doesn't look like Kelly Rutherford, because she was supposed to be a young Kelly Rutherford.”
However, she stressed online that they need to keep Degrassi: The Next Generation star on their radar, “and you guys need to find something for it,” he recalls. “I just remember thinking, 'In a couple of years, I'm going to think about this girl and say, 'Oh my God, I missed this opportunity.' She was so incredible!”
