Major League Soccer has suspended Inter Miami star striker Luis Suarez for Saturday's key playoff game against Nashville SC.
Suarez received a one-match ban MLS Disciplinary Committee for an off-ball incident in the second game of the first round series. Suarez kicked Nashville defender Andy Nahar in the 71st minute of the match, which Nashville won 2–1. The third game of the best-of-three series will take place on Saturday.
There were no fouls or cards issued during the match. However, the MLS Disciplinary Committee may intervene after a match and impose fines and suspensions in certain circumstances, including in the case of the second game when the referee sees the incident and does not issue a card.
Suarez, a 38-year-old Uruguayan who once played for Liverpool and Barcelona, has a history of bad behavior on the pitch. He was suspended three times for biting opponents and was once suspended for racial slurs, although he denied the charges.
