“Tonight we must start by congratulating the country for being open, then we must hand over voter ID, we must end mail-in voting, we must pass whatever we want to pass to make our elections secure,” Trump continued, calling for an end to the government shutdown.
“All we need is a voter ID, you go to the grocery store, you have to provide ID, you go to the gas station, you give ID, but they don't need a voter ID to vote. That's for only one reason, and that's because they're cheating. We'd be through this in 15 minutes,” Trump rantedseemed to slur his words at times. “If you don't get that, you'll never get past it. You'll never talk about mail-in ballots. Mail-in ballots automatically make it spoiled.”

Trump's statement that grocery stores and gas stations require ID shows how out of touch he is with the average American (and may be a sign cognitive decline). The president's crusade against voter identification also belies the fact that many of Tuesday night's Democratic victories came in states that already require it, such as Virginia And Georgia. And complaining about mail-in ballots makes no sense, given that Trump did it. voted like this in the past and that Republicans encouraged people vote by mail earlier this week.
