Feel the nostalgia in Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit
Limited edition game And retro programs opened physical pre-orders for Evil video game Nerd 8-bit on Switch and PS5. This announcement marks the return of one of the gaming industry's most chaotic icons, ready to unleash pure Nerd Rage in full retro glory.
The game, developed by Programancer, was released digitally for the first time on October 23rd on modern platforms. The game offers side-scrolling gameplay inspired by the challenging NES games, combining nostalgic graphics with modern elements. The current generation editions even include new live-action footage filmed specifically for the game. This makes each level feel like a playable episode of the Cinemassacre web series that inspired it.
In addition, there are four special editions for the NES, developed in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios. These physical versions are designed to recreate the era of classic cartridges. It's available in NES Gray ($69.99) and limited edition ($79.99) Legendary Gold, Nerd Rage Red, and Super Mecha Baddie Blue. Each cartridge celebrates the game's roots and offers collectors a true piece of retro history.
“Playing AVGN 8-Bit feels like you're entering my subconscious as a nerd, encountering all the enemies and levels I've covered in the series” said James Rolfe, an angry video game fan. “It's an amalgamation of all your NES dreams and nightmares. From Retroware in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios and Programancer, it's sure to bring back all those retro memories of gripping the controller, screaming, and clenching your fists.”
Fans can pre-order their preferred edition until December 7, 2025. A playable demo is now available on Steam and Nintendo Switch for those ready to jump into the chaos early.
