Become the Maiden of Darkness
TigerChainsaw Studios today launched a Kickstarter campaign for Maiden of the Dark. This is a new retro-style platformer made for the original Game Boy. Designed to capture the intensity and charm of the classic handheld game, the game offers a combination of high-speed combat, intense platforming and atmospheric storytelling. It reminds us of other classic games like Operation C and Return of the Ninja.
Maiden of the Dark takes players through ten treacherous stages, from burning villages to towering peaks. Each level tests reaction and accuracy, requiring quick thinking. Players will have to fight their way through enemies, avoid deadly traps and face colossal bosses, all with a heavy metal soundtrack fueling the action.
The story takes place in rural Japan, where a once peaceful village falls under the control of the brutal warlord Zankoku and his shoguns. With no hope, the villagers summon the Maiden of Darkness, an ancient spirit whose power only exists in the shadows. She has ten hours of the night to fight back, destroy the Zankoku army and reclaim the land before the sun rises.
Armed with a katana that can pierce mortals and demons alike, Virgo faces a deadly cast of enemies. This includes the armored strategist Yoroi, the clawed assassin Shiruku, and Zankoku himself. Along the way, she meets Teixeira, a mysterious wanderer who offers a hidden reward associated with love and sacrifice. Combining brutal action with nostalgic visuals, the game promises a challenging and memorable journey through darkness, honor and revenge.
