On Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks gave up the ninth overall pick in the 2018 auction with the goal of terminating his contract and allowing him to return to Russia.
Before making this decision, he played just 10 games for the team's home club in Abbotsford, recording a goal and four points in the process.
It was the third time since being drafted in the top 10 by the New York Rangers that he tried his luck in the best league in the world. A certain Nick Bobrov, now the assistant director of amateur recruitment for the Canadian, suggested his choice to the former bosses.
Now aged 25, it would be amazing to see him back on this side of the Atlantic one day. His NHL career ended with six goals and 12 points in 64 games.
Kravtsov will return to Chelyabinsk Traktor of the KHL, the club for which he played from a young age in his native country. He has already signed a deal for the remainder of the season as well as the next two years.
Last season for Traktor he scored 58 points in 66 matches, finishing sixth in points in the standings.
