- Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is approaching 10 years of age
- To celebrate the occasion, they present a huge arena full of bosses.
- Alternative versions of beloved characters are also on the way.
We cover anniversaries quite often here at Pocket Gamer, although many of them are gacha RPGs celebrating their first few years, and increasingly half-years. I don't claim this, of course. After all, that usually means lots of free goodies. However, this means that Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, celebrating its 10th anniversary, stands out even more. This is a whole decade.
The exact date Galaxy of Heroes turns ten years old is November 18th, and to celebrate, they're changing absolutely everything. Giving up what works in favor of something new and untested. I'm joking, of course, but this will apparently mark the beginning of a new era.
First, we have the addition of the Colosseum, which is supposedly huge and inspired by the Petranaki Arena from Attack of the Clones. So, presumably a big old amphitheater made of natural stone. In it, you will face bosses such as the Pirate AT-ST, Yotaz, the Tomb Keeper, and Dryax.
The update also promises alternate versions of existing characters, with Stormtrooper Luke, Chewie and Yoda, and Darth Vader with a damaged helmet set to join. Aside from Vader wearing a worn-out hat, Seasonality brings several changes to the entire live experience aspect of Galaxy of Heroes, promising to benefit players new and old alike.
With mobile games shutting down everywhere, including Zynga's previous attempt to capture the Star Wars audience, it's impressive that Galaxy of Heroes lasted 10 years. Having a large IP address is not always a guaranteed path to success. In fact, it might be harder if hardcore fans don't like it, so they're clearly doing something right here.
Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is now available on the App Store and Google Play, where it is free to play with in-app purchases. You can download it for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
