Check out the new Resident Evil Pro controller
Following its official announcement, the Resident Evil Pro controller for the upcoming Switch 2 is now available for pre-order, much to the delight and surprise of fans. The collaboration promises a stylish collectible related to Resident Evil: Requiemhowever, its high price quickly became the main topic of conversation.
UK pre-orders are priced at £83.99 on the My Nintendo Store, making it more expensive than the standard Pro Controller, which sells for £74.99. Across the Atlantic, Best Buy has opened pre-orders in the US for $99.99, down from $89.99 for the regular version. With figures like these, it’s hard to call it anything other than a luxury item and collectible, rather than a must-have accessory.
Design-wise, it's a mixed bag. The controller has detailed styling and theming elements inspired by Resident Evil, but the large Switch 2 logo located in the center has been the subject of criticism. It covers some of the Resident Evil branding and some of the more complex symbols on the faceplate. While the overall design has its appeal, it lacks the iconic style of the memorable GameCube-era chainsaw controller.
Still, it's impressive that Nintendo is allowing a themed third-party Pro Controller for such a major release. Pairing it with the highly anticipated Resident Evil Requiem gives it added value to fans of the series.
The Resident Evil Pro game and controller are scheduled to be released on February 27, 2026. The Grace Ashcroft amiibo will join the lineup later in the summer of 2026, capping off what's shaping up to be a big year for Resident Evil fans on Nintendo's next console.
