People called the British actor Jonathan Bailey as their Sexiest Man Alive of the Year. The news was revealed on Evening show by host Jimmy Fallonwho praised Bailey's work this year in both Evil: For good And Rebirth of Jurassic World.
“This is the honor of a lifetime,” Bailey told Fallon. “And I want to say, Jimmy, thank you so much for giving up so I could be here.”
Fallon asked Bailey if it was hard to keep the news a secret, but Bailey said “surprisingly not.”
“Because not a lot of people ask, 'Are you…?' – he said. “We're starting Wicked press tour, and shortly before that I went away with some friends, just to hang out for a bit. And we went somewhere for a drink and I was like, “Guys, guys.” I thought, “I’m the sexiest man alive.” And they were like, “Yeah, yeah, do your affirmations.”
Fallon noted that Bailey is known as the “Internet guy.” He told Bailey that fans are always trying to cast him in different roles, including the next James Bond and the next Batman. “Only if you stay close to me,” Bailey replied. “Will you be my Moneypenny?”
The actor also mentioned Evil: For goodwhich will be released later this month. “It’s like these extraordinary people who spent their whole lives dedicated to the craft,” Bailey said of the sequel. “And I think it will be one of my greatest honors to support Jon M. Chu. He's an incredibly visionary director… It's going to be emotional for everyone, but I think it's going to be wonderful.”
In his People cover legendBailey shared his first celebrity crush (Prince Eric from Little Mermaid) and said that the last time he was moved to tears while watching Evil: For good. “But besides seeing my own work, I am moved to tears quite often by my family in a good way,” he said. “It was like my niece was student of the week, and I was so proud of her. And she's the eldest of the next generation of Baileys. And that was inspiring to me. Actually, all my sisters, when they send pictures of their kids – I really think family really brings out strong emotions for me.”
Evil: For good hits theaters November 21st. It stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Bailey plays Prince Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh plays Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum plays the wizard. The rest of the cast includes Marissa Bode, Ethan Slater, Bowen Young and Bronwyn James.
