Keanu Reeves has openly stated his desire to return into the series as Cyberpunk 2077(only occasionally) a lovable rock star/corporate resistance fighter, despite the fact that Johnny Silverhand was long dead by the time the events of the first game began. And now the series creator has said he has “ways to do it” – probably not using a parasitic neurochip this time.
IN broadcast organized CD Project Ed featuring TTRP Cyberpunk creator Mike Pondsmith, the series maestro began talking about the game's famous actors, and he, like Keanu himself, supports the idea of Silverhand returning to the ongoing story.
Silverhand's return gets a little complicated considering he's been physically dead for decades, and Cyberpunk 2077's multiple endings make his fate even grimmer. He may still be operating outside of Blackwall as an AI, but that risks canonizing an ending that used to depend on player choice.
“Let me put this straight. You have Keanu Reeves, then you get Idris Elba,” Pondsmith added, before offering another job to another actor. “What's next? Scarlett Johansson?…Scarlet, you know I have roles for you. You can do anything.”
“But, seriously, two things struck me. First of all, they approached the characters very well. Secondly, these were people, actors who wanted play these characters in a way that gets them immersed in it,” he said, which likely explains why he's so open to Keanu returning for Cyberpunk 2, which is currently in development.
