The Blue Jays had a chance to win the World Series on Friday night in Game 6 as they dominated the series 3–2 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A missed opportunity and a painful defeat, but quickly overcome, according to the doctor of sports psychology Sylvain Guimond.

“The Blue Jays are what they've always done. They're a well-built team, they're a well-balanced team, they're a team that has fun together, and they're a team that performs well when we need to get back on track,” Mr. Guimond explained to LCN on Saturday.

And the latter believes Friday's loss will even put the Blue Jays in a better position to perform in Saturday night's deciding game.

“In my opinion […] Les Blue Jays [seront] even better, because just yesterday they experienced this defeat, which was very, very, very emotional and very difficult to overcome,” he emphasized.

The benefits of “stress”

As the seventh and final game of the World Series approaches, a doctor of sports psychology believes stress can improve the Blue Jays' performance.

“We talk about stress, but stress is neither positive nor negative, it is neutral,” Mr. Guimond explained. “The first person to talk about this was Hans Selye. He said that positive stress is called stress. eustress and negative stress was called [une] disaster. At this moment, this evening, they will experience positive stress, which we call eustressand this stress allows us to work.”

Mr Guimond acknowledges that stress often has a negative connotation, but says it also produces “many” positive effects.

“The players need to be excited, not stressed, looking forward to it because really, they've heard it all their lives. So tonight they need to be prepared to say, 'I want to experience this joy,'” he added.
