Brilliant hunt in Pokemon Legends: ZA it's fun. Unlocking a Shiny Talisman takes a lot of work, but the sound effects and sparkles coming from wild Shiny Pokemon make the process extremely rewarding… until someone ruins it.

Taile, the NPC who gives you side mission 098 before Wild Area 15, asks you to catch the Jumbo variety Pumpkaboo, the largest one in existence. When you accept her quest, she bluntly says, “I need you to catch a giant pumpkin for me!”

Apparently this was not clear enough to some players. One of them shared on Reddit that they have a Shiny Pumpkaboo of this variety, which is rare due to both its base chance of 1 in 4096 and the fact that it is a Jumbo. They offered it to Tully, thinking it was all she wanted to see. Instead, the NPC kept the Shiny one, causing the player to permanently lose the rare Pumpkaboo variety. Other made the same mistake.

What makes this an irreversible error is Legends: ZA autosave. This feature is always on and triggers at certain points in the game, one of them is when you complete a side mission such as the Taile mission. So, by the time you realize that Taille left you Pamkaba, the game has already saved your progress and made a final decision. Your precious Shiny is truly hers now.

This side mission only appears at the end of the game, after you have unlocked main mission 35. Up to this point, anyone who asks to see a Pokémon will, at best, borrow it and return it to you, such as the woman who wants to make perfume from Skiddaw leaves and Vannilite snow. That's why it's natural to expect that Taille won't save your Pokémon either if you ignore her dialogue.

During the game Legends: FORRemember one of the most important life lessons you were probably taught as a child: don't let people take your valuables, even if they're video game characters. You never know what they'll do with it.
