Ah, 2025.
Why do children say “six-seven” and what does it mean?
The phrase “six-seven” (6, 7) has now become a viral internet meme and a term that began to spread after becoming wildly popular among Generation Alpha.
But where did it even come from?
Well, the term comes from rapper Skrilla's song “Doot Doot (6 7)” where he repeatedly says “six seven” in his lyrics.
Portions of the song featuring this sound bite quickly gained popularity. TikTok after users began sharing photos of basketball player LaMelo Ball, who is (would you believe it) 6 feet 7 inches tall.
However, the original context of the song is a reference to 67th Street in Philadelphia and police codes. However, since then it's fair to say that the “six-seven” meme has taken on a life of its own, now scattered all over the Internet and even being mentioned in South Park episode.
In general, the word “six-seven” has no “real” meaning, instead being used as something of a meaningless term, like another favorite Alpha generation term, “skibidi”.
And in case you're wondering, yes, it may seem like we've actually reached peak brain rot.
This is more of an inside joke, although technically it doesn't mean anything, it can be used in any context you wish. So we say, “Go ahead and six-seven.”
How did it go popular?
If you will, what really made six-seven on the map was video about a “six-seven kid” who was seen shouting the term at a basketball game. Please see below.
Since then, this guy has made six or seven of his entire brand, and honestly, we can't blame him.
Why was the six-seven meme banned?
Yes, we are actually at the point where the phrase “six-seven” has had to be banned in some classrooms because it has proven to be so disruptive.
