Warning: spoilers for The Witcher Season 4 is coming.
Even before watching The Witcher season 4you might have guessed that the season finale would be the best plot reveal. However, I think this actually happens in episode 6 of the hit. Netflix show – which I would also call the strongest episode of the series.
Luckily, I had the chance to ask showrunner Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich how it all came about—and yes, that means Tissaia could technically return for another season five.
Tissaia's cameo in Episode 6 of The Witcher Season 4 “filmed new scenes” to reveal the magic of illusions
“New scenes were filmed for this,” confirms Schmidt-Hissrich. “Sasha Harris, our wonderful producer, will say when someone dies on our show, 'Are they dead or are they dead like Lauren?' This means they can return at any time. Often we say goodbye to actors and say, “Actually, can you come back?” Am I real? Am I a ghost? My vision is this: we will figure it out.
“I love that you love the Battle of Monte Calvo,” she tells me. “We have had to work really hard this season. In the books, Yennefer doesn't play a big role in this particular story. In many ways it is a jade statue. The stories of the women in this series are very important, and we didn't want to overshadow that, so we had to create the story almost from scratch.
“The Battle of Montecalvo is mentioned in the books, but we never took part in it. So it was a lot of fun to delve into it and just be creative. Our surprise guest is one of my favorite moments.”
For me, Schmidt-Hissrich's words telling me that literally anyone can rise from the dead is enough fuel for my delusional fire to believe that we might see Tissaia in The Witcher season 5. Both seasons 4 and 5 were filmed back to back… so if she was filming episode 6 anyway, why not keep her on the payroll for a little longer?
Considering that Geralt (Liam Hemsworth), Yennefer and Ciri (Freya Allen) are still separated by the end of Season 4, The Witcher season five can throw anything at us. A lot of characters have died during this time, and I'm all for as many characters as possible having dramatic returns.

The best TVs for every budget.
