Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn Will Not Commit to WH Invite

US Olympic alpine skiing champion Lindsey Vonn will not accept an invitation to the White House and will not repeat her outright refusal in 2017.

In 2017, Lindsey Vonn promptly declined an invitation to the White House ahead of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, citing President Trump during his first term.

“Absolutely not,” Vonn said CNN when asked if she would visit the White House. “No. But to be invited, I have to win. No, actually, I think every member of Team USA is invited, so no, I won't go.”

Vonn said she hopes to “represent the people of the United States, not the president.”

“I take the Olympics very seriously, what they stand for and what they represent, what it means to fly our flag at the opening ceremony. I want to represent our country well. I don't think there are many people in our government at the moment who do that,” she said at the time.

That same year, Vonn won three bronze medals at the Olympics; eight years ago she brought home gold in Vancouver.

In 2025, ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Vonn had no intention of visiting the White House and did not decline the invitation.

“First of all, I just want to say that generally all Olympic athletes on Team USA are invited… it has nothing to do with whether you win a medal or not,” Vonn said Fox News.

“I'm not going to answer that question because I'm just not going to answer it. I want to keep my passport,” she added.
