The Leones del Esgido attacked with three runs in the eighth inning to erase the deficit and beat the Gigantes del Cibao 7-5 on Tuesday, who remain winless after six games to start the Dominican Baseball League campaign.
Junior Lake hit a two-run home run and Martin Maldonado added a solo to give the Lions the lead. Following the Giants' comeback, Frenchy Cordero entered the game with a single, while Lake and Alexander Canario contributed sacrifice flies in the eighth inning to decide the game.
In Santiago, Aguilas Cibaeñas beat Estrellas Orientales 15–10. Angel Henao went 4-for-5 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs; Juan Lagares went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, and Webster Rivas added two RBIs.
For their part, Tigres del Lisi scored six runs in the ninth inning to beat Toros del Este 8-2 in La Romana. Jordan Lawlar and Christian Adames led the offense with doubles.
Lions stop Tigres' streak in Venezuela
Leones del Caracas defeated Tigres de Aragua 7-5, ending their streak of four straight victories in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.
Yonatan Daza and Oldrem Corredor hit solo home runs in the first inning to give the Lions the lead. Corredor added an RBI single and Daza added another run with a sacrifice fly.
Brainer Bonaci also hit a solo home run.
At La Guaira, Breivich Valera hit a two-run homer and Alexi Amarista added another solo to lead the Margarita Braves to a 5-1 victory over the La Guaira Sharks.
In Valencia, Navegantes del Magallanes beat Caribes de Anzoategui with a score of 2:1. Former Major League Baseball player Rugned Odor got the win with a double in the fourth inning.
In Maracaibo, Jose Pirela hit two runs, a double and a single, and Yonatan Perlaza hit another with an out-of-base hit in Aguilas del Zulia's 3-1 win over Cardenales de Lara.
