Un Montréalais déclenche 93 alertes avec son bracelet antirapprochement pour terroriser son ex

A Montreal man has been found guilty of stalking after causing 93 alerts in just over two months with his anti-reconciliation bracelet to terrorize his ex-partner.

In April 2024, Andrew Khishin Sakhrani had just been released from prison for waging a months-long “campaign of harassment” to psychologically and financially “destroy” his ex-girlfriend.

Instead of moving on, the 42-year-old continued to put her in danger by maliciously using his anti-rapture bracelet, which is supposed to prevent domestic violence from happening again.

Sakhrani, an entrepreneur and physiotherapist, traveled 93 times in just 66 days in “preliminary” geographical areas, that is, very close to places where his presence was prohibited.

Generally speaking, the monitoring center is systematically informed about the offender's attacks on these sectors.

The center must then call him to find out his destination and prevent him from meeting his ex-partner at his home. Possible police intervention. (see box)

Andrew Khishin Sahrani did not cooperate on the line. Even if he did not know the exact dimensions of the “pre-readiness zone,” the defendant was inclined to ignore the routes proposed by the center, the court noted.

“Total contempt”

According to the probation officer, the forty-year-old man “refused to do everything necessary to ensure that the anti-conciliation bracelet had the desired protective effect.”

He was particularly aware of the “very real risk” that the victim would be warned each time, Judge Mairi Springate recently concluded.

Thus, Sakhrani “deliberately, persistently and repeatedly continued his behavior by driving very close to prohibited areas, completely disregarding the sense of safety” of his former partner.

The monitoring center even assigned an entire team to monitor Sakhrani's actions. Moreover, due to the “security breach”, the accused met the complainant on the road at least once.

The situation became even more alarming in early June when authorities contacted the former defendant twice about the whereabouts of Andrew Khishin Sakhrani.

“The police told him that the accused was approaching [d’elle] and that she would have to take action to protect herself,” Judge Springate said.

Appeals and complaints

This caused a “state of fear” in the complainant, who had in the past been threatened by the accused with having her throat cut.

Therefore, together with her colleagues, she had to initiate a planned procedure to protect herself in such circumstances.

You should know that over the same period, Sakhrani used the Internet to create numerous phone numbers and call the victim at work hundreds of times.

He also made unfounded claims about his professional integrity.

At the end of June 2024, Sakhrani was finally arrested and charged. The Montrealer will return to court in November.

The crown represented by M.e Thierry Sabourin is asking for three to four years in prison. Me Thomas McKenzie, for the defence, said his client's preventive detention following his arrest was sufficient.

From the project's implementation in May 2022 to September 30, 2025, 1,270 bracelets were ordered from offenders. In 84% of cases this was due to temporary release pending trial.

Moreover, between 1is Between April 2023 and September 30, 2025, 7,347 alarms related to reconciliation attempts were recorded where the monitoring center intervened preemptively.

“Of this number, 299 police interventions were required while the wearers of the bracelets refused to comply with the monitoring center’s interventions,” the Ministry of Public Security website states in its latest update.
