Hilary DuffThe 2000s pop icon and actress is returning to music with new material due out “very soon” after signing with the star. Atlantic Records last month.
In an interview with DiversityDuff was asked about gay fans' excitement about the upcoming release, to which she emphasized the importance of dedicating the music to her gay fans, simply stating, “You know it's all for them. It's just to impress them.”
Lizzie McGuire The actress has been a longtime ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, most notably through her contribution to the Think Before You Speak campaign in 2008. In the infamous ad, Duff stops a girl when she calls her friend's blouse “gay”, Duff intervenes and informs the girl of the seriousness and unnecessaryness of the comment: “What if every time something was bad, everyone said, 'Wow, that's the kind of girl who wears a skirt instead of a top?' But they're cute jeans.”
Most recently, in a 2022 interview regarding her role in the Hulu sitcom. How I Met Your FatherThe “Come Clean” singer opened up about the LGBTQIA+ community and the impact it has had on her career: “I owe everything to the community… this particular community has had a huge impact on my career.”
While Duff hasn't revealed a release date for the expected new song, she does claim it will be out sooner than fans think: “[My fans] we will hear something so quickly, as if in the blink of an eye.”
