The incident occurred during Monday night's game between the Penguins and the St. Louis Blues, won 6-3 by the home team, early in the first period after Anthony Mantha gave the home team a 2-0 lead, the Associated Press reported.

The man, who was not identified, was treated at the scene by emergency personnel and rushed to Mercy Community Hospital, which is located a few blocks from the arena in downtown Pittsburgh.
According to Trib Live, the incident was witnessed by a Trib Live news editor and a High School Sports Network producer, who were both watching the game as fans.

“I was scared to watch, but I did it,” producer Jess Leveaux told Trib Live. “He was just lying there unconscious… Everyone was just stunned and in shock.”
When Levo returned to the scene after calling for help, she said she saw a man bleeding and people trying to help him, the online publication reported.
“I decided not to look any further and just prayed for the young man,” Leveaux told Trib Live.
KDKA reporter Ricky Sayer reported on social media that a fan fell from the upper lobby to the lower one, citing Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The game was never stopped while the man was being treated. Pittsburgh police told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the man was in critical condition.
“Our concerns remain with this individual and his family at this time,” the Penguins said in a statement.
