Welcome to 8th grade week!
A week of explosions has passed NFLand the Kansas City Chiefs finished it off by giving us another blow on Monday night with victory with a score of 28-7 over Washington commanders. With Kansas City's victory it's means 12 of 13 players played in week 8 were decided by double digits. This means that only one game was decided by one score, and this is the first time since Week 14 of the 1970 season that we have seen something like this.
Everyone got blown out… well, except the New York Jets.
Since Week 8, there has been only one team in the tournament without a win. NFLbut this is no longer the case after New York Jets won a stunning victory over the team with a score of 39-38. Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets trailed by 14 points with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Brice Hall scored the winning touchdown (that's not a typo, Breece Hall scored the touchdown to give the Jets the lead with 1:54 left in the game).
How shocking was this victory?
- It was the Jets' second-largest fourth-quarter comeback in franchise history. They trailed by 15 points entering the fourth quarter, but were able to outscore the Bengals 23-8 in the final quarter to take the win.
- Hall became the first running back since 2000 to throw the go-ahead touchdown in the final two minutes of a game. The last time something like this happened to the Jets was when Curtis Martin made the go-ahead touchdown back in 2000.
- Hall became only the third running back in NFL history to score two rushing touchdowns AND throw a touchdown pass in one quarter (Hall did it all in the fourth quarter).
- This game marked the first time since 2001 that the Jets passed 500 yards. The last time it happened was against the Bengals.
It was a great win for the Jets, but a terrible loss for the Bengals.
With that in mind, let's move on to the Week 8 grades, starting with the Chiefs' dominant win on Monday night.
The persistent push did not die in the conference room; he died on Sunday in Philadelphia
